Stets (a.k.a. Lawson Welles) recently returned from a research trip in Japan to complete his research on Japanese vampire legends and folklore for his Master’s thesis at Penn State University. In view of the depth of data gleaned from the adventure, he is considering publication. The bulk of his research centered around the Iwate prefecture of Japan, and in lieu of recent tragic events, which he just barely missed himself, the question of how this will affect the nation’s folklore and legends will be put under the proverbial microscope in his book.
He also interviewed Japanese World War II veterans (including a Kamikaze pilot) for his documentary film on the subject, and recorded new music for a soundtrack to his movie as well. His first film, Cricket Snapper, a neo-noir BDSM crime drama based on the true story of the Quincy dominatrix will be premiering in Boston in late-April or May.
