NEHW MEET AND GREET EVENTS:

From Nathan Wrann:
Wrann will be screening his film, Burning Inside, at the Somerville Theater on
Wednesday, Jan. 5. The film is part of the theater’s monthly
screening series, All Things Horror Presents. Burning Inside is an
exploration of the intertwined nature of revenge and memory. The
Somerville Theater is located at 55 Davis Square in Somerville, MA.

Burning Inside is the second feature from Wrann and his
production company, Dalton Gang Productions. The production company
was founded in 2006 by Wrann and his wife, Kimberly Dalton.
They started the production company because they were dissatisfied
with the caliber of modern independent horror movies and cult
thrillers. They set out to create the kind of underground movies
they would like to see. They want those movies to be literate and
thought provoking in plot, brutal and unrelenting in tension.
Burning Inside is the first film distributed by Channel Midnight
Releasing (www.channelmidnight.com),
the new distribution label from respected cult filmmaker James
Felix McKenney (Canniballistic!, Hypothermia) and producers Lisa
Wisely (Automatons, Satan Hates You) and Chase Tyler of The Work

Wrann is an independent filmmaker out of West Haven,
Connecticut. He shot the film entirely in Connecticut. For more

Daniel G. Keohane (Solomon’s Grave), Morven Westfield
(Darksome Thirst, The Old Power Returns), and Tracy Carbone (The
Man of Mystery Hill) will be taking part in a reading, signing and
panel discussion on using local settings in their works of horror
for the West Boylston Arts Foundation in Massachusetts, which is
celebrating Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday on Wednesday, January 19, at
6:30 p.m. at the West Boylston’s Beaman Memorial Library. All are

NEHW MEMBER NEWS:
From Scott Goudsward: Shadows Over New England is
now available for the Kindle. He also has three stories, “Surf N’
Turf,” “Eatin’ Ain’t Cheatin,’” and “Blankie” in Daily Bites of
Flesh 2011: 365 Days of Horrifying Flash Fiction. From Bill
Gauthier: Gauthier’s novella, Shadowed will be published by
Delirium Books (www.deliriumbooks.com)
in March 2011. It will be a 150-copy signed/numbered limited
edition mini-hardcover. Preorders for it begin on January 4.

From Tracy Carbone:

Carbone’s horror story, “The Attic” will appear
in the 13th issue of Necrotic Tissue in January 2011.

From Robert Heske:

Heske wants to report that along with Eric Roberts (The
Expendables, The Dark Knight), he has received letters of intent
from Ellen Muth (Dead Like Me), James Keane (Crazy Hearts),
Juli Erickson (Carried Away), Sarah Nicklin (Nun of That) and
Chris DiVecchio (Wolf Moon) to appear in his micro-budget indie
horror film, Unrest. The film was inspired by two of his favorite
indie horror films, Eden Lake, a 2008 indie cult tale from the
United Kingdom and Stir of Echoes, the supernatural murder mystery
starring Kevin Bacon. It will be shot in California this summer.
Bob is currently scouting locations and talking to candidates to
direct his movie. He is also looking for investors and other
interested parties who might be interested in being involved

From John Grover:

Grover is happy to report his recent appearances
in the Dark Things II anthology by Pill Hill Press for his story “A
Strange Turn of Events”, The Monster Party anthology by Living Dead
Press featuring his story “Pest Control” and the Zombiality
anthology by the Library of the Living Dead Press featuring his
story “Just the Three of Them at the End of the World.” He is
planning to do a book signing in the New Year for Zombiality along
with some of the other authors who have contributed to the
anthology. More details will follow soon. All of the previous
titles are available at Amazon.com or through the publisher’s
sites. In January, there will be an interview with Grover on Naked
Snake Press’ website. The company has recently rejoined the
publishing scene and will re-release his collection, A Beckoning of
Shadows, a 52,000 word book with 16 stories both in paperback and

Longo’s short story “Down the Pike” will appear
in Issue 11 of Shroud magazine, due out soon! She also has
two short stories, “Trojan Horse” and “Turnabout”, appearing in
Daily Bites of Flesh 2011: 365 Days of Horrifying Flash Fiction,
available now from Pill Hill Press (www.pillhillpress.com).
Longo’s short story “Wedding Day Blues” has been accepted in
Nightfall Publications’ From Shadows and Nightmares, due out in
early 2011. From D. G. Sutter: Sutter has been given the
opportunity to edit the anthology Alienology: Tales From The
Void for Library of the Living Dead Press’ Horror imprint. From
Jeffrey C. Pettengill: Pettengill has a piece of zombie flash
fiction “Breakfast in Bed” in the anthology Daily Bites of Flesh
2011: 365 Days of Horrifying Flash Fiction from Pill Hill Press.

From Jason J. Marchi:

Marchi had his book of poems, Ode on a
Martian Urn, published by Upstart Fahrenheit Books, an imprint of
Omicron World Entertainment. His book contains 28 poems written
over a 20-year period within three distinct genres: fantasy and
science fiction, horror, and mainstream. The book is illustrated by
Noel Belton, a native of Ireland, who now lives in Connecticut. To

From Scotty Stets:

Stets (a.k.a. Lawson Welles) is embarking on a
three-week research trip to Japan right after the Christmas holiday
to complete his research on Japanese vampire legends and folklore
for his Master’s thesis at Penn State University. While in Japan,
he will be interviewing Japanese World War II veterans for his
documentary film on the subject. He will be recording new music for
a soundtrack to his movie as well. From K. Allen Wood: Wood, the
editor and publisher, wanted everyone to know that the third issue
of Shock Totem will be available on Jan 1. This issue is the
biggest yet and is nearly 50% bigger than the first two. It
features previously unpublished stories from the likes of John
Skipp, Tim Leider, S. Clayton Rhodes, Steven Pirie, and eight
others, plus one poem. There are also conversations with D. Harlan
Wilson and Count Lyle, of the band Ghoultown. There is also
nonfiction from Mercedes M. Yardley, and much more.

Harris was offered the position of full-time reporter at a Connecticut newspaper
before his first trial week was finished. He happily accepted the
position.
