Ben & Jerry’s Launches ‘Scotchy Scotch Scotch’

New Flavor Honors Legendary Anchorman Ron Burgundy

B-roll from unveiling ceremony: http://www.mediafire.com/?15ktbpsdyvkfvjv

You heard it here first, folks! Ben & Jerry’s announces its newest limited batch ice cream flavor, “Scotchy Scotch Scotch.” Created in honor of beloved Ron Burgundy, the TV news anchor with a penchant for all things scotch, the flavor is a creamy concoction of butterscotch ice cream with ribbons of butterscotch swirl. Don’t act like you’re not impressed!

“Scotchy, Scotch, Scotch is a delicious ice cream and I hope Ben and Jerry consider my other suggestions,” said Ron Burgundy. “Malt liquor marshmallow, well liquor bourbon peanut butter, and cheap white wine sherbet.”

The flavor was officially unveiled at New York City’s Pier 36 where members of the press attended and witnessed the announcement first-hand.True to the iconic ice cream company’s untraditional style, the event kicked off with – what else? – a performance by Nutty The Waterskiing Squirrel, as seen in the firstAnchorman film. Nutty’s prowess was immediately followed by the appearance of a Ben & Jerry’s scoop-truck-turned-Channel 4 News-truck, which rolled onto the scene transporting a legion of blazer-wearing Ron Burgundy look-alikes. After “Scotchy Scotch Scotch” was officially unveiled, attending media and fans were treated to free scoops of the new Ron Burgundy-inspired flavor.

Fans anxiously await December 20th, when Ron and his elite news team return to the news desk in “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.”

“As a company who believes our fans deserve nothing but the best, we have great respect for Ron Burgundy, who takes the same belief to heart,” said Lisa Sholk, Ben & Jerry’s Marketing Maven, who lead the team on the Scotchy Scotch Scotch flavor project.

“Having Ben & Jerry’s celebrate the return of Ron Burgundy to the big screen with the introduction of this special ice cream is an exciting and delicious way to build anticipation for the film,” said LeeAnne Stables, President of Consumer Products at Paramount Pictures. “We especially enjoyed the sampling process over the last several months to find the perfect Scotchy scotch flavor.”

Scotchy Scotch Scotch is available now at participating scoop shops across the country. Pints of the flavor will arrive on store shelves over the next few weeks.

“To help locate the flavor as it rolls out, we’re asking fans of Ben & Jerry’s and Anchorman to log onto www.benjerry.com and share when and where they were able to have a taste,” Sholk said. “We want fans to be able to experience it all first-hand, because as Ron says, this flavor is ‘kind of a big deal.’”

With the 70’s behind him, San Diego’s top rated newsman, Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell), returns to the news desk in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. Also back for more are Ron’s co-anchor and wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), weather man Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), man on the street Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) and sports guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) – All of whom won’t make it easy to stay classy … while taking New York and the nation’s first 24-hour news channel by storm. Produced by Judd Apatow, Ferrell and Adam McKay. Written by Ferrell &McKay. Directed by McKay.

‘War of the Worlds’ Live on Stage

A DIFFERENT KIND OF HALLOWEEN

Infamous Radio Broadcast Recreated on October 31 at The Arlington Regent Theatre
Event benefits new documentary about the Orson Welles Cinema.

On October 30, 1938, The Orson Welles Mercury Theatre broadcast H.G. Wells’ classic tale of interplanetary battle with War of the Worlds and stunned the nation as many who heard it were convinced that a real invasion was taking place. It was one of the first times that the power of radio was on full display, and it resulted in new regulations about what and how news could be presented on the public airwaves. On October 31, 2013, the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA, will commemorate the 75th anniversary with a live theatre event recreating one of the most famous radio plays ever produced.

This new War of the Worlds theatre recreation will use classic Foley audio techniques (where sound effects are produced mechanically where possible) and will feature a cast of local media celebrities, including Christopher Lydon from WGBH; cultural reporter Joyce Kulhawik; RadioBDC on-air personality Henry Santoro; Cha-Chi LoPrette from 100.7 WZLX, and others to be announced. The production will be directed by Nerissa Williams with Foley direction by Austen Wright and Hal Wagner.

The live event will raise funds for The Orson Welles Complex, a new documentary produced and directed by Garen Daly about the legendary Cambridge art house. As one of the Cinema’s managers during its heyday, Daly is chronicling the unique story of the Welles with cinematographer Austin de Besche, noted for his work with John Sayles, among others.

“What more fitting tribute than to recreate War of the Worlds, the broadcast that launched Orson Welles’ career in the movies, as we embark on preserving the memory of the Orson Welles Cinema in a documentary film,” said Daly. “We thought it would be a lot of fun and a great way to commemorate the anniversary on Halloween night.”

For those living in the Cambridge area in the 1970s and 1980s, the Orson Welles Cinema figures prominently in their memories. Patrons enthusiastically relished the innovative programming that included midnight movies, revivals, and European films. Viewers discovered Fassbinder, Werner Herzog, and many others at the Welles. Tommy Lee Jones was the Cinema’s first manager, and Stephen King included the Welles in three of his stories. Through the years, the Cinema added a film school and a restaurant, and it spawned a generation of people dedicated to the arts who influenced the industry.

Daly’s documentary, The Orson Welles Complex, is scheduled to release in 2015. Follow news and updates at www.facebook.com/OrsonWellesCinema.

War of the Worlds live theatre event will take place Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA. Tickets are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door. Purchase at the Regent Theatre box office or online at www.BostonSci-Fi.com/WaroftheWorlds.

ABOUT STOKER ON STOKER
Dacre Stoker, great grandnephew of Dracula author, Bram Stoker will share the Stoker family perspective on mysteries behind the writing of Dracula, including the intriguing connection between Samuel Clemens and Bram Stoker, who were for a time, neighbors in London. Born worlds apart, Clemens and Stoker, shared a rapport built on humor, their similar life outlooks and common interests – spiritualism, as well as science and technology. The two borrowed material – one gentleman complimenting the other: a line from Following the Equator inserted into Dracula and for years, Bram’s story about a priest who jumped to conclusions was a part of Mark Twain’s lectures. Samuel Clemens and Abraham Stoker, writers who each made his indelible mark, interesting individuals and a fascinating friendship.

The ‘Snowpocalypse’ is Coming!

ARE YOU READY FOR IT?

Shop~~element51

We’re certain your kids will love it!

Rob Watts, author of the Crooked Roads through Cedar Grove series, and Susan Saunders, Illustrator and educator, have teamed up to create Waunders, an imprint of publisher Ocean View Press. Waunders is the Boston-based publisher’s new children’s book line, which is devoted to creating educational and family-friendly reading entertainment, which kids will treasure for years to come.

Waunders is proud to announce the debut of Snowpocalypse, which  will be officially released on Oct. 1.

The concept behind the book Snowpocalypse came about during the blizzard of February 2013 when the northeast was literally crippled by the treacherous snowstorm. As the pair of authors shared birthdays within days apart, and their celebratory plans were placed on hold due to the ongoing blizzard, the two joked that their birthdays were ruined by the “snowpocalypse!” Thus the children’s tale was born. Taking it a step further, the authors created a brand in which to attach their books to, in the form of Waunders, a combination of their last names.

“I’ve always loved drawing and teaching and entertaining children, so this seemed like the perfect project for me to undertake” says Saunders.” I’ve always had a desire to create a children’s book, so the timing couldn’t have been better for us to involve ourselves in this undertaking.”

Coming from a background of adult fiction, Watts adds “I’m definitely up to the challenge of comfortable wedging myself between dark suspenseful fiction and the benign innocence that goes along with children’s storytelling. It can certainly be done and I think we will do a great job together in entertaining.”

To learn more about team Waunders, visit Waunders.com for the latest news, bio’s, signing dates and their forthcoming release Snowpocalypse available Oct. 1st.

Watts will be at the New England Authors Book Sale taking place at Haverhill High School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. He will also be in artist alley at Granite State ComicCon happening at the Radisson Center of New Hampshire in Manchester, New Hampshire on Sept. 28 and 29. Saunders will also be in attendance at the convention. Snowpocalypse will be available to purchase.
